For our West Virginia residents, Our Mountaineer Savings Account is led by Mr. Mountaineer, who may be seen visiting your local school or walking in the community parade. FNB Bank visits Hampshire and Mineral County elementary schools to accept deposits throughout the school year. Deposits are also accepted in all of our Branch offices.
For our Virginia customers, ask about the Explorer Savings Account. Same great features, but led by our great team of young treasure hunters.

Individual Retirement Arrangements (IRA Accounts)
Don’t leave your future to chance; open an FNB Bank Individual Retirement Arrangement (IRA**) today. IRA’s are special-purpose savings plans created by the federal government to help you build funds specifically for retirement. What makes these special is that the government allows you to defer paying taxes on the interest they earn until the funds are withdrawn. This helps your money to grow much faster than in a comparable, taxable investment. In addition, some IRA savers’ contributions qualify as a tax deduction for federal income tax purposes. Check with your local tax advisor.
Even if you don’t qualify for a tax-deductible contribution, you can still open a new IRA or contribute to an existing one. The compounded earnings will be tax-deferred. Remember, you can open or make contributions to your IRA any time up until your tax due date, which is usually April 15th.
Opening an IRA at one institution does not mean you have to keep it there until retirement. If you currently have an IRA at one financial institution, you can move it to another without a tax penalty. FNB Bank offers both fixed-rate and variable-rate IRA’s. Come in and talk to one of our Customer Service Representatives about moving your IRA to a high yielding FNB Bank fixed-rate or variable-rate IRA.
Also, if you recently changed jobs and received a distribution from a Pension or Profit-Sharing plan, you may be able to roll it over into an IRA and continue to defer the taxes.

FNB Bank Overdraft Privilege
We all slip from time to time and can make little mistakes! That’s why FNB Bank offers Overdraft Privilege to cover you when the unexpected happens.
Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary service designed to help prevent your insufficient funds items from being returned or declined. With Overdraft Privilege, we have the option to cover your overdrafts up to your Overdraft Privilege limit (including fees) if you inadvertently overdraw your account. This can save you the embarrassment and inconvenience of a returned or declined item and the added fees normally charged by merchants for items returned to them.
Expand some of the topics below to learn more about your overdraft options.
What types of transactions are covered by Overdraft Privilege?
- Checks
- ACH (Auto Debits)
- Recurring Debit Card Payments
- Online Bill Pay Items
What if I want FNB to pay my everyday Debit Card and ATM overdrafts?
If you want us to authorize and pay overdrafts caused by ATM and everyday debit card transactions, you must tell us by using one of the following methods:
- Complete the Opt-In Form which is available online or at any branch location. Mail your completed form to: PO Box 1037, Romney, WV 26757;
- Bring it by one of our convenient branch locations;
- Call us at 304-822-8700 or 800-482-8110.
How does Overdraft work?
Our standard Overdraft fee of $30 will be imposed for overdrafts created by checks, ACH, and if opted- in, ATM withdrawals, everyday debit card transactions, or by other electronic means. This is the same fee that we charge for items drawn against insufficient funds and returned to the payee.
If multiple items are presented against your account on the same day, each item will be assessed an appropriate $30 Overdraft fee or a Returned Check fee of $30.
FNB has the discretion, but is not agreeing and does not have an obligation to pay your overdrafts and we may withdraw this privilege at any time. An overdrawn balance must be repaid within 30 days or your Overdraft Privilege limit may be removed.
FNB ordinarily will not pay an item above the Overdraft Privilege limit and may return items if you do not maintain your account in good standing by bringing your account to a positive balance within every thirty (30) day period for a minimum of one business day, if you default on any loan or other obligation to FNB or if your account is subject to any legal or administrative order or levy.
Fees charged for covering overdrafts, as well as the amount of the overdraft item, will be subtracted from this Overdraft Privilege amount as items are paid. It may be possible that your account will become overdrawn in excess of the Overdraft Privilege amount as a result of the assessment of a fee. Balances at an ATM or other point of inquiry will not include the Overdraft Privilege limit; however, items may be paid in excess of the balance provided.
Transactions may not be processed in the order in which they occurred and the order in which transactions are received and processed may impact the total amount of fees assessed.
What Overdraft Privilege Options do I have?
Standard: Checks, ACH, Online Bill Pay, and recurring debit card transaction overdrafts are covered.
Full: ATM and everyday debit card overdrafts are covered in addition to those listed above. See the Opt-in form under “What if I want FNB to pay my everyday Debit Card and ATM overdrafts?” to sign up for this coverage.
None: No overdrafts covered. NSF (non sufficient funds) items are returned to the payee or declined.
How does having Overdraft Privilege compare to not having it?
With Overdraft Privilege:
Written Check Amount: $50
Overdraft Fee: $30
You Pay: $80
Without Overdraft Privilege:
Written Check Amount: $50
NSF/Return Check Fee: $30
Merchant Fee (up to): $40
2nd NSF/Return Check Fee*: $30
You Pay: $150
*If merchant re-deposits check and funds are still unavailable.

- Overdraft Privilege: $30 per overdraft
Link to Savings: $12.50 per transfer
FDIC Resources
The FDIC offers a convenient tool to help customers determine their FDIC coverage needs. The Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) lets consumers know, on a per-bank basis, how the insurance rules and limits apply to a depositor’s specific group of deposit accounts—what’s insured and what portion (if any) exceeds normal coverage limits at that bank. After using this tool if you feel you have funds that need additional coverage, contact your local FNB Bank representative to get more information about FNB’s extended coverage options.
Excess FDIC Coverage
Through a preferred partnership, FNB Bank can offer excess FDIC insurance when traditional coverage is not enough. This allows our customer to consolidate funds into FNB bank, simplifying their finances, while still protecting their money with full FDIC coverage.
- Millions in FDIC insurance available
- Banking local with the support of a nationwide network
- Consolidate funds at FNB Bank for ease of management
- Funds remain available when needed
- Product is available to consumers and businesses
